Week 1
Wrestler of the week for week 1 is Aaron Shaffer. Aaron went 5-1 this week, winning the only match of the night in the Thompson Valley dual and lost his only match of the week to Connor Blanco of Mitchell NE. Aaron has been leading by example with his style of getting on top and constantly putting pressure on his opponents-always looking to put them in nearfall.
Week 2
Scotland Coyle
The wrestler of the week for week 2 is Scotland Coyle. Scot went 5-1 this week and despite his lone setback he came back with a vengeance. Coyle scored 17 takedowns this weekend and is on track to dominate the rest of the season.
Week 3
Once again Scotland Coyle is wrestler of the week. This week Coyle won the prestigious Northern Colorado Christmas Tournament. He dominated his way to the championships where he was winning 9-0 and pinned his opponent. Coyle remains a threat to win a state title and he is quickly bouncing back into shape after the extended football season.
Week 4
Cameron Herbert is wrestler of the week for week 4. He wrestled a great tournament in Eagle Valley and finished with 3 straight falls. That was a great performance by Cameron and he is getting into the second semester with some momentum to carry on into the post season.
Week 5
Scotland Coyle had a great weekend winning the Pueblo Centennial Tournament. Scotland defeated the #2 ranked wrestler in the finals 6-1! Coyle also joined the elusive twister meter winning his first match by fall via twister in only 22 seconds.
Week 6-7 I grouped these two weeks because Aaron Shaffer has been winning in dominating fashion. Aaron just finished this week off with a championship at the Valley Invite where he had 3 pins-all in the first period. Aaron is continuing to build momentum towards the regional tournament.
